Town planning applications for East Wichel since 2000

East Wichel, built on the site of Westlecott Farm, is the first part of the Wichelstowe housing development to the south of Swindon. East Wichel has over 800 houses and flats plus a school, a few shops and offices and a pub. The original planning application covers the whole of Wichelstowe, and each block of housing (or ‘parcel’ in town planning terminology) was built under a ‘Reserved Matters’ application. For each Reserved Matters application, matters not already decided under the original Wichelstowe planning application had to be approved. This included the developers showing that they complied with the Wichelstowe Design Code, part of the conditions on the original Wichelstowe planning permission.
